Learning Support

Dear Parents and
Care-givers,

If your child is currently a target pupil for learning support, we would like you to be assured that we will be providing continued support for you and your child during the Lockdown period and online learning.

Classroom teachers are providing the classroom programme for your child / children.  They will be making sure that the work provided is at the level required for your child. There will also be extra information on good apps to use on the learning support blog, that can be accessed through the school website and blog created by Bernadette May. Jude Irwin will be holding regular meetings with teachers during the lockdown, to make sure the learning support pupils have programmes in place to support their learning.

We will still be making sure that the children on our Learning Support Register are tracked and are being catered for while we operate remotely.

The intention was to have all IEP’s (Individual Education Plans) completed by the end of Term 1, however the early finish has resulted in some pupils still requiring IEP’s.  The teachers are all aware of who the IEP pupils are and are catering accordingly.  IEP meetings  will be held as soon as we return to school, or if necessary due to an extension, will be held online. I will keep you informed on this.

I would like to have regular communication with parents regarding your child’s learning.  Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have, or just to have a chat about how your child is going with their learning at home, jude.irwin@taitapu.school.nz or jude.curtis@taitapu.school.nz . I will also be available during school hours to chat over the phone.  My cell number is 0220724672.

Referrals to specialist services, RTLB (Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour), and Mana Ake are all still able to be completed during the lockdown period.

Kind regards,

Jude Irwin
